WHY DON'T STYLISTS TALK TO OTHER STYLISTS?
This weeks topic is a little something I have been pondering...
20 Sept 2026

One thing I keep noticing whenever I speak to other stylists is how isolated many of us feel.
It’s an interesting thing, because styling can be such a people-focused business. We spend our days talking to clients, understanding their lives, their wardrobes, their insecurities, their ambitions. We’re constantly looking at what other people are wearing and yet, how often do we actually talk to each other?
There seems to be an unspoken idea that other stylists are competition. That sharing too much might give something away. That we should quietly get on with building our own businesses, our own client books, our own point of difference but I’m starting to wonder whether we’re missing something by working so separately.
When I talk to stylists, the conversations are remarkably similar. We’re grappling with many of the same questions: how do we grow? How do we attract clients? How do we keep them coming back? How do we make styling a genuinely sustainable business? and how do we adapt to a world that is changing around us?
There is so much we could learn from one another, so perhaps it’s time we talked a little more?
One of the things I’d like to do with this space is create somewhere for those conversations to happen - a place to share ideas, ask questions, challenge the way we’ve always done things and, hopefully, make the business of being a stylist feel a little less solitary.
I’m making it my mission to bring us together, if you are a stylist and you want to make a connection, come to my event later this week because there’s more than enough room for all of us.
Can’t make it to my event in London? Don’t worry I will be hosting more around the country, stay tuned for more details.
